Join Us!

We train every Tuesday night at the Renfrew Wing from 6:30pm – 9pm throughout the school year.  A typical training night would consist of an opening, training sessions in three different subject areas, a canteen break time and a closing.  One training night per month is a dedicated Sports Night.

We also have weekend outings and trips!  Outdoor camping weekends and flying days are highlights of the cadet calendar.

We help the Legion with the Poppy Drive and Remembrance Day every November.  We also assist our Sponsors, the RCAF Association 433 Wing.

If you have a favourite training subject you can go deeper by trying out for one of our Squadron teams.  Develop your Marksmanship, Biathlon or Drill skills and compete against other local units!  Dream of flying?  We have a team of experienced pilots who give Ground School every winter.

Cadets in good standing can apply for Summer Training at Cadet Training Centres all over Canada!  This summer, one of our cadets attended the Survival Instructor Course in Cold Lake, AB and another cadet earned his Private Pilot Licence in Moncton, NB.  There are also courses in Music, Leadership, Marksmanship, Physical Fitness, International Exchange and more!

Senior Cadets may also apply for Staff Positions at Cadet Training Centres and earn a wage for the summer.

Our program is fully funded – there are no registration fees and you will be loaned everything you need to participate in training.

EVERYONE aged 12-19 is welcome at Cadets.  We accept new recruits year round, but it is to your advantage to sign up in the fall or as soon as you have your 12th birthday.  Are you an older recruit?  Don’t worry, we will fast-track your training so you are placed with your peers.

When you join 653 Champlain Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, you will be part of a team that will challenge you to develop Leadership, Citizenship and Self-Confidence.  If you are interested in Exciting Adventures and New Friendships, register in person with your Birth Certificate and Health Card or online at cadets.ca under unit #653 Renfrew!
